Prominent Case Study

MOSHAV "MOLEDET"
Moshav “Moledet” field and crop department

  • Annual Water purchasing: 1.5 Million m3
  • Grow: olives, almonds, and grapefruit.

CRITICAL ISSUES

  • Percentages of NRW: 5-6%
  • Non accurate water billings

AIMS

  • Assure accurate measurement and billing
  • Minimize leaks
  • Reduce non-revenue water
  • Lower overall costs
  • Increase revenues
  • Improve customer service and customer satisfaction

RESULTS

  • Accurate billing
  • Improved leakage detection
  • Efficient, accurate billing
  • Reducing NRW to 2%
  • Increase revenue by 100,000 ILS per year

THE CHALLENGE
Moledet needed a solution that would allow it to accurately measure water consumption, improve leakage detection, and support water, energy and money savings.

Moledet faced some serious challenges, including a high percentage of NRW, non-revenue water, (6%), equal to 70,000-90,000 cubic meters a year. Before starting the optimization process, Moledet used for water measurement and billing 42 units of Mechanical hydrometers (a combination of water meter and valve in one unit).

SOLUTION & RESULTS
In 2018 Moledet decided to upgrade their water infrastructure by replacing all the existing mechanical hydrometer with new and advance Raphael Ultrasonic Hydrometer named ULTRAF. This innovate and unique product combine super accurate ultrasonic water measurement with control valve capabilities, LCD display, and large range of outputs.

In outcome of the process the water measurements improved significantly, billing capabilities improved dramatically and NRW dropped from 6% to 2% equal to 80,000 cubic meters to 30,000 cubic meters. This savings is equivalent to NIS 100,000 a year for the community.
